Lawyers representing Dominion Voting Systems sent a letter to both President Trump’s campaign and the White House counsel demanding they preserve all records and warning them that a defamation lawsuit could be on the way.
The letter, sent to Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who is heading Trump’s legal team, and White House counsel Pat Cipollone, told them to cease “defamatory claims against Dominion” and ensure there is “no confusion about your obligation to preserve and retain all documents relating to Dominion and your smear campaign against the company,” CNN reported on Wednesday.
In the time since President-elect Joe Biden won the election, Trump, his campaign, and many others in his orbit have pushed voter fraud claims that have been largely rejected in court and rejected by federal and state officials.
